by Satsvarupa Dasa Goswami
Memory can be used as a spiritual tool. Ultimately, all memory is meant to lead us deeper into remembrance of Krsna and our relationship with Him. Even before that ultimate conclusion, however, our lives and memories are valuable because they lead us to Krsna consciousness. Our lives are inevitably real and full of inevitable limits; trying to forget anything that is not Krsna conscious doesn't make our lives any more truthful. Therefore, we may feel a sense of accomplishment when we can take a piece of the mosaic of our lives and place it in the context of our present Krsna conscious experience. That sense of accomplishment may be especially strong when we can take a shattered piece, a painful piece, a piece that had no connection to Krsna, and by remembering it, leave it behind in the ultimate remembrance of Prabhupāda's saving grace.
