Encounters with a Great Soul
My Fond Remembrances of Srila Prabhupada
by Partha-sarathi Dasa
From the back cover:
One morning I entered Prabhupada's room after he had taken prasadam.
Harikesa, Pusta Krishna, and Bhargava were sitting around Prabhupada, and I joined them. Prabhupada was in a jovial mood, discussing Darwin's theory. Harikesa told Prabhupada about Darwin's son. To excel his father's theory of evolution, he
came up with an even stranger theory. "His idea was that the whole of America, both North and South, were once joined with Europe and Africa. Then millions of years ago there was a big split. The two continents separated, and from the sea came
the which rose into the sky." We were all laughing with Prabhupada as Harikesa
moon, spoke. Prabhupada said, "Yes, the moon came out of the water, went into the
sky, and hit the scientists on the head, and that's why they're speaking so much nonsense." As he spoke he gestured with his hand to show the moon rising
into the sky, then hitting him on the head, Prabhupada moved his head from side to side and closed his eyes to depict a confused scientist who had just been hit on the head. Prabhupada was laughing as he talked, and we all joined in.
